Chole Mjini sits on Chole Island, a small patch of forest off the coast of Mafia Island within Tanzania's largest marine park. Getting there is part of the experience: a short Cessna Caravan flight from Dar es Salaam, a drive across Mafia Island, then a boat crossing the shallow, azure channel to Chole itself.

The accommodation is a set of open-air treehouses built to work with the ocean breeze rather than seal it out.
