Mica Cabin sits on Rideau Valley Conservation land in Tay Valley, Eastern Ontario, tucked into a secluded inlet on Mills Lake. It shares the lake with a sister cabin, Rhya, about 400 meters away, but trees and distance keep both spots private. There's no Wi-Fi here, no grid power, and the access matches the setting: a drive-in route for 4WD vehicles in summer, or a 900-meter hike-in year-round, with winter access by foot only.
Inside, the cabin sleeps up to four with a queen bed, and the space comes stocked for basic self-sufficiency — cookware, a stovetop, sink, mini fridge, a compost toilet, and running water from mid-May to mid-October. Outside there's a fire pit, BBQ, patio furniture, an outdoor shower, and a canoe with life jackets for getting out on the water. Two snowshoe pairs are provided for winter visits. A deck faces the lake for sunset views, and the surrounding trails support hiking, birdwatching, paddling, fishing, and in winter, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
Rates shift by season and day: in summer (May–Oct) expect $209 on weeknights, $224 on weekends, and $249 on holidays; in winter (Nov–Apr) it drops to $189, $204, and $229 respectively. Check-in is at 3 pm and check-out at 11 am. Pets are allowed, up to two. Booking runs through Cabinscape's website, where the calendar shows live availability and seasonal pricing.
