Set at the remote headwaters of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains on US-285 near Villa Grove, these yurts function as small off-grid cabins rather than bare-bones tents. Each one sleeps two in a queen bed, with a queen futon available for a third or fourth guest, plus a kitchen, hot shower, toilet and Starlink wifi. A 4x4 vehicle is required from November through March.

Outside each yurt, guests share a community area with a fire table, grill, wood-burning sauna and cold plunge, all subject to availability. The land sits in open valley with 360-degree views of the Sangre de Cristo range, and trails lead straight from the door into the foothills. Dogs are welcome, with a pet bed and crate provided.

The property runs on sustainability as a working principle, not a slogan: stays help fund education workshops and winter affordable housing, and guests are asked to book a minimum two-night stay to reduce water use and leave time for exploring the surrounding area. Monarch Mountain, O'Haver Lake and Cottonwood Lake campgrounds, and the towns of Poncha Springs, Salida and Buena Vista are all a short drive away, as is Great Sand Dunes National Park.

Larger groups can book the Iris or Lone Tree yurts, which hold up to six people. Booking runs direct through the official site, open now for the Nov-April 2026 season. There is no front desk or published hours; reach out by phone or through the site for specific arrival details.
