Utila Treehouse sits on a nine-acre property on the north side of the island, built by hand by Norwegian carpenter John Arne Løken. It's the only treehouse of its kind on Utila, rising twelve meters into the tree canopy across three stacked decks.
Inside there are two air-conditioned queen bedrooms, one with a skylight, and a studio layout that sleeps four total. Bathrooms are on the ground level, including a hot-water indoor shower and a separate outdoor shower on the north deck with open sea views. Hammocks are strung across the decks for reading, napping, or working remotely over the Wi-Fi that covers the whole property.
From the top deck, views stretch from the north to the eastern shore, catching both sunrise and sunset. The location is close to the beach, shops, bars, and restaurants, and within a few kilometers of the airport and ferry port, making it workable whether arriving by small plane or by the Utila Dream ferry from La Ceiba or Roatan.
Check-in runs between 15:00 and 20:00, with checkout before 10:00, and the minimum stay is one night. A refundable security deposit of $300 applies, and maid service is available for an extra fee. Booking goes through Bookatreehouse.com, where payment can be split 25-75%, 50-50%, or paid in full. Property managers Tina and JJ, working with owners Amanda and John, handle guest support during the stay, including a provided cellphone for calls or arranging a taxi.
