Snug Harbor Resort & Marina sits on Mitchell Bay, on the west side of San Juan Island near Friday Harbor, Washington. The property has operated since the early 1960s and pairs its 20 private cabins and suites with one of only two marinas on this side of the island, making it a practical base for fishing, crabbing, and whale watching trips.

Accommodations range from one-bedroom waterfront cabins to one- and two-bedroom waterfront suites and water-view cabins. Each unit is air conditioned and comes with a full kitchen, so preparing your own meals on site is simple. Wi-Fi reaches the cabins, and pets are welcome throughout the property.

Much of the stay revolves around the harbor itself: boats coming and going, bald eagles overhead, and grassy waterfront areas with a dock and firepit. A small coffee bar on site opens in the morning. Roche Harbor, Lime Kiln Point, and American Camp are all short drives away for those exploring beyond Mitchell Bay.

Active military personnel receive a 20 percent discount on stays booked directly, available year-round. Because the drive from the ferry involves some unmarked turns, downloading an offline map in advance is a good idea before arrival.
